The office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness

Institutional effectiveness at Syscoms College represents an expansion of the process (accreditation process) to emphasize the results of education and to focus on the extent to which the institution uses assessment information to reevaluate goals, to make essential improvements, and to plan for the future.

The institutional effectiveness criteria are designed to encourage the establishment of an internal planning and evaluation system through which institutional self-examination becomes a continuous process rather than a periodic event.

The office of Planning and Institutional Effectiveness ensures that the college practices a campus culture of ongoing evaluation and improvement. Institutional commitment to this process is prompted by the desire to offer an educational program and services that are timely, appropriate, current, beneficial, and that represent the best practice in higher education. Additionally the college understands the importance of accountability to its various constituents and public - the annual effectiveness reports which are generated by this Office is a part of college’s culture of effectiveness. The college has adopted as its institutional effectiveness procedure the “Plan, Do, Check, Act” quality model. The following survey instruments are used for the evaluation of different components including course delivery, course performance, teaching effectiveness, infrastructure and learning resources. Students, Staff and Faculty members have participated at different levels of the effectiveness evaluation cycle.

SC has a full fledged Office of Planning and an Institutional Effectiveness Department which uses the instruments listed in the table below to gather Institutional Research. The Department is headed by the Manager of the OPIE and reports to the Chief Executive Officer. The Institutional Research is done in association with the Office of the Dean of the College and other Offices.
